Harri Puttar or Harry Potter?Warner Bros sued a producer from Bombay because of an indian movie title, “Harri Puttar – A comedy of terrors”, American studio considers this title to be too much like famous franchise based on J.K Rowling novels. First confrontation will take place Monday, Indian movie having it’s premiere on 12 September.
Is there any connection between Harri Puttar with Harry Potter? It seems no, at least this is what Indian producers sustain, which said that title was registered since 2005. Harri is an Indian name which is often used (as Harry in Great Britain?), and “puttar” means “son” in Punjabi dialect, used by 90 millions of pakistaneze.
Despite of those details, Warner Bros. considers that title violates right of intellectual propriety, and one of reasons is reasons is that “Harri Putta” became a sort of local nickname of little brave wizard appeared once with first movie from Harry Potter series. First audience at this trial takes place Monday. Who will win? A thing is certain: not Harry’s spells will change title of the Indian movie, but a skilled lawyer should do it.
